First Steps

I first discovered coding in my final year of university, where I learned Python and R for data analysis. Later, while studying for a Master's in Bioinformatics in 2020, I came across web development.

I realised I loved building things that people can see and use while combining my creativity and problem-solving skills. This, along with the fact that there's always something new to learn only made it more interesting. So, I decided to put my Master's on hold (which I re-enrolled in 2026!) to focus on software development and ended up full-time in a full-stack bootcamp.

I haven't stopped learning since. I stay up to date by reading blogs, taking courses on Frontend Masters, and subscribing to newsletters. In my free time, I also build personal open-source projects to practise and develop new skills.

Work Experience

I have worked in small companies and startups, from a Y Combinator 3D design startup to an IoT company in New Zealand, where I really enjoyed collaborating with people, owning features and learning along the way.

My tasks have ranged from designing prototypes in Figma to setting up CI/CD pipelines and dev tooling, but I mostly stayed on the front end architecting and developing user interfaces that are maintainable and performant. I built SPAs from scratch, contributed to complex codebases, developed reusable components and improved the web performance of company sites.

Because of my interest in UX design, I care about how interfaces feel and not just how they work, so I develop with usability and accessibility in mind.

Tech Stack

My go-to for SPAs is Vue, but I have also worked with React and Angular. For JAMstack sites, I like Astro with a headless CMS like Directus or Storyblok, and for cross-platform apps I am familiar with Ionic/Capacitor.

I use TypeScript most of the time and enjoy writing semantic HTML and CSS/SCSS with BEM, but I'm also comfortable with CSS libraries like TailwindCSS, headless component libraries like Radix UI, or animation libraries like GSAP and Framer Motion. For testing I have used Jest and Vitest for unit tests and Cypress for end-to-end.

I have designed interfaces in Figma, contributed to design systems with Storybook and consumed existing ones like Material or Apple.

I have also picked up some backend and infrastructure work to deploy on Cloudflare or Netlify with GitHub Actions, to build serverless backends with AWS SAM and AI pipelines with the OpenAI API.
